About Tacos 1986

Victor Delgado brought Tijuana-style taqueria culture to Los Angeles with Tacos 1986, named for the year his family started cooking tacos in Baja California. The signature is the vampiro: a tortilla pressed against the comal with cheese until it crisps, then loaded with arachera or al pastor. The al pastor is carved from a proper trompo with pineapple. This is the taqueria that proves Tijuana and LA taco cultures are different, equally legitimate, and worth celebrating separately.
