Selene

A Greek restaurant on Grand Street in SoHo — whole grilled fish, mezze, and a bright, airy room

About Selene

Selene brings straightforward Greek cooking to a bright SoHo room on Grand Street: mezze to start, octopus off the grill, and whole fish sold by weight, filleted at the table, dressed with lemon and good olive oil and nothing else. That last part is the test of a Greek restaurant and Selene passes it. The room is white and open with plenty of daylight, which suits the food. It is more polished and more expensive than the Astoria tavernas that set the city's standard, and it delivers enough to justify the difference for anyone not making the trip to Queens.
