About Le Veau d'Or

Le Veau d'Or opened in 1937 and spent its last decades as a nearly-empty room kept alive by a handful of regulars. Riad Nasr and Lee Hanson of Frenchette took it over and reopened it in 2024, and the achievement is that it does not feel like a revival — it feels like the restaurant simply resumed. The menu is a fixed list of bistro classics served in courses: rémoulade, quenelles, tripes, a tarragon chicken that arrives under a lid. The room is small, red, and loud in the right way. This is the rare restoration that understood the assignment was preservation, not reinvention.
