Gjusta occupies a sprawling sun-drenched compound on Sunset Avenue and has made the Venice food scene considerably more interesting since Travis Lett opened it alongside Gjelina. The ordering system is deliberately counter-service and slightly chaotic — grab a tray, work through the cases, and end up with more food than planned, as intended. The smoked fish program is the most talked-about element: thick-cut lox, cured and house-smoked, served on toasted sesame or layered into a board with pickled onions, dill, and capers. The baking output covers sourdough, croissants, kouign-amann, and morning buns with enough variety that regulars cycle through the menu for months.
