LA's 24-hour Jewish deli since 1931 — the Kibitz Room launched Guns N' Roses, the pastrami launched everything else
Canter's opened in Boyle Heights in 1931 before moving to Fairfax Avenue, where it has operated 24 hours a day for over nine decades. The back-room Kibitz Room hosted Guns N' Roses' earliest performances and has seen more LA music history than any dedicated venue. The corned beef and pastrami are house-cured, the matzo ball soup is the real thing, and the fact that a Reuben is available at 3 AM after a show at the Troubadour explains half of the restaurant's cultural permanence in the city.
