The Northridge deli that keeps winning best-in-LA polls — mile-high reuben, house-cured everything, since 1967
Brent's has spent more than fifty years in a Northridge shopping center quietly collecting the titles that better-located delis assume are theirs — number one in Los Angeles from Zagat, from Los Angeles Magazine, from the LA Times readers' poll, repeatedly. The reuben is the signature and it is genuinely absurd: corned beef stacked past the point of structural sense, sauerkraut, Russian dressing, grilled rye. The chopped liver is made in-house and is the sleeper order. Portions are enormous, prices are fair, and the dining room runs on a service style that is efficient rather than warm. If you are anywhere in the west Valley and want a deli, this is not a close call.
