Studio City's deli since 1957 — pastrami, matzo ball soup, and the slogan every regular can recite
Art Ginsburg opened Art's on Ventura Boulevard in 1957 and the family has kept it running on the same premise ever since — 'every sandwich is a work of art,' a slogan corny enough that it has outlasted every trend that arrived after it. The pastrami is cut thick and piled high, the matzo ball soup is the version most Valley kids grew up on, and the booths have hosted an unglamorous cross-section of the television industry for close to seventy years. Breakfast runs all day. Portions assume you are taking half of it home, and you are. Langer's gets the accolades and Canter's gets the tourists; Art's just keeps feeding Studio City.
