About Sailor

Sailor opened on Dekalb Avenue in 2023 and became one of the most charming rooms in New York almost immediately — dark wood, brass, nautical detailing convincing enough that it does not read as a theme. The kitchen, led by chef April Bloomfield in partnership with restaurateur Gabriel Stulman, cooks with restraint: a roast chicken for two that arrives properly rendered, oysters and raw preparations that change daily, vegetables treated as seriously as the proteins. It has since expanded with a bar area, which made walking in a realistic proposition. It is the rare new restaurant that felt like a neighborhood fixture within a year of opening.
