Andrew Carmellini's TriBeCa taverna — sheep's milk ricotta, lamb meatball sliders, and one of the city's best brunches
Andrew Carmellini opened Locanda Verde in the Greenwich Hotel in 2009 as an Italian taverna rather than a fine dining room, and the distinction has held — it is loud, comfortable, and designed for people to eat in more than once. The sheep's milk ricotta, served with good olive oil and salt and grilled bread, has been on the menu since the beginning and is still the first thing to order. The lamb meatball sliders do the same work at the bar. Brunch is where the restaurant is at its best and hardest to book, and the blueberry ricotta pancakes are the reason. It has aged into a neighborhood fixture, which was clearly the plan.
Locanda Verde is andrew Carmellini's TriBeCa taverna — sheep's milk ricotta, lamb meatball sliders, and one of the city's best brunches. Regulars order sheep's milk ricotta with sea salt and herbs and lamb meatball sliders.
