Missy Robbins' Williamsburg pasta kitchen — the mafaldini with pink peppercorns is one of the best plates of pasta in America
Missy Robbins opened Lilia in a converted garage on Union Avenue in 2016 and it has been one of Brooklyn's most coveted tables since the first week. The cooking is Italian in its reference points and entirely her own in execution: handmade pasta is the centerpiece, and the mafaldini with sheep's milk cheese and pink peppercorns is the dish that has made the most people understand what pasta can be at its highest level. The sheep's milk ravioli in brown butter is a close second. The wood-roasted clams are the right way to start. Lilia proves that the most exciting Italian cooking in New York is now happening in Brooklyn.
