The Frenchette team's brasserie in Rockefeller Center — art deco marble, a rotisserie, and the best pre-theater room in Midtown
Lee Hanson and Riad Nasr opened Le Rock in 2022 on the street level of 45 Rockefeller Plaza, in a marble-and-brass room that had been sitting more or less unused since the building went up. The cooking is the same clear-eyed French that made Frenchette work — terrines, a rotisserie turning duck and chicken, sole cooked in enough butter to justify itself — served in a space with the proportions of a mid-century banking hall. It is one of very few genuinely good restaurants inside Rockefeller Center, and by some distance the best place to eat before something at Radio City. Weekday lunch is the underrated reservation.
