Handmade pasta and a garden on Myrtle Avenue — Silvia Barban's Fort Greene trattoria
Silvia Barban makes the pasta at LaRina by hand and it shows in the texture — the sheets have a bite that machine extrusion does not produce, and the sauces are built to match rather than smother. The menu runs northern Italian with Ligurian and Lombard influence, and the lasagna is the dish regulars order without reading. There is a back garden that gets heavy use from spring through fall. The Myrtle Avenue room is small and unfussy. It is a chef-driven trattoria in the most literal sense: the person whose name is on it is the person rolling the dough.
