About Karasu

Karasu is reached by walking through Walter's on Dekalb and finding the unmarked door at the back, which is a conceit that would be tiresome if the restaurant behind it were not this good. The room is dark and low-ceilinged with a serious whisky and cocktail list. The kitchen does izakaya cooking with more precision than the setting implies — uni toast that has been on the menu for years because removing it would cause problems, excellent tsukune, sharp small plates meant to be ordered in sequence. It is one of the more atmospheric rooms in Brooklyn and it earns the theater.
