Culver City's Michelin-starred Southern kitchen — cast-iron cornbread, wood-fired proteins, and a room that earns every star
Hatchet Hall earned its Michelin star by doing something ambitious: taking the flavors and warmth of Southern cooking seriously in a neighborhood that wasn't asking for it. The cast-iron cornbread — served first, with cultured butter and honey — has generated more Instagram posts than perhaps any single dish in Culver City's dining history, and it deserves the attention. The wood-fired grill drives the rest of the menu through pork ribs, whole fish, and charred vegetables that arrive tasting of smoke and careful attention. The room has the feel of an old hunting lodge that wandered into the best possible version of itself.
