WeHo's Old Hollywood Italian since 1964 — checkered tablecloths, Eagles folklore, and late-night pasta
Dan Tana opened his restaurant in 1964 and immediately made it the territory of Hollywood agents, actors, and anyone wanting to be seen in that particular West Hollywood light. The red-and-white checkered tablecloths and Rat Pack–era photographs are unchanged in 60 years; the spaghetti sauce has near-mythic status; and the bar stays open until 1 AM, which explains a good portion of the restaurant's cultural legacy. The Eagles wrote 'Lyin' Eyes' in a back booth here in 1975, which feels exactly right.
