About Cassia

Bryant Ng brought his Singapore family's cooking to Santa Monica when he opened Cassia in 2015, and the restaurant has become one of the definitive addresses on the Westside for cooking that doesn't fit into any convenient category. The Singapore-style laksa — coconut curry soup with rice noodles, shrimp, and tofu — is the dish that most clearly communicates where Ng's cooking comes from, but the menu moves across Southeast Asia in ways that feel connected by sensibility rather than geography. The kaya toast, a Singaporean breakfast staple with coconut jam and soft-boiled eggs, arrives as a starter and immediately establishes the kitchen's intentions.
