Sherman Oaks' LA Times restaurant of the year — a family-run Valley Thai institution elevated to one of the most celebrated tables in California
Justin Pichetrungsi inherited Anajak Thai from his parents — who ran it for 40 years as a beloved neighborhood Thai restaurant — and turned it into one of the most celebrated restaurants in California without changing what made it special. The LA Times named it restaurant of the year, a Michelin star followed, and the Resy releases now sell out in minutes. The Thai fried chicken is the signature new addition: properly seasoned, fried to the kind of crunch that holds on the plate, and served with sauces that suggest the kitchen understands contrast as well as it understands heat. The classics his parents built the restaurant on — massaman curry, pad thai — remain on the menu and remain excellent.
