The short version: Forks has no accounts and never asks for your name, email or payment details.
The iOS app collects no personal data and does no tracking. The website uses Google Analytics and Google AdSense
cookies only if you accept them in the cookie banner.
The Forks iOS app
- No accounts, no ads, no tracking. The app does not collect, store or share personal data, and does not track you across other apps or websites.
- On your phone only: your saved restaurants, and the city you chose are stored locally on your device and are deleted if you delete the app.
- Location: if you allow it, your location is used only on your phone to show distances and places near you. It is never sent to us or to anyone else. You can turn it off any time in Settings, and every feature still works by choosing a city.
- TikTok videos play in TikTok's official embedded player. When a video loads, TikTok may receive information such as your IP address, under TikTok's Privacy Policy. The app keeps no cookies — not from TikTok or anyone else.
- Reservations open Resy or OpenTable in your browser; anything you do there is covered by their own privacy policies.
- Menu, website, call and directions buttons open a Google search for the menu, the restaurant's own website, your phone app or Apple Maps; their own privacy policies apply there.
- Delivery buttons open Uber Eats or DoorDash (their app if installed, otherwise their website); anything you do there is covered by their own privacy policies. We don't receive your order or any information about it.
- Restaurant updates: when the app opens, it downloads the latest delivery links from forks.la. That request carries no personal data — only the standard information any web request includes (such as your IP address), which we don't use to identify you.
- Maps and images are loaded from Apple Maps, TikTok, Unsplash and Resy (restaurant photos), which receive standard request information (such as your IP address) when content loads.
The forks.la website
- Analytics: with your consent, we use Google Analytics to understand which pages are useful. It uses cookies and collects usage data such as pages viewed and approximate location. See Google's Privacy Policy. When you accept, your browser also asks ipify for your public IP address, only so we can leave our own visits out of the statistics; we don't store it.
- Advertising: with your consent, Google AdSense may show ads and use cookies to do so. You can manage ad personalization at Google Ad Settings.
- Your choice: nothing above loads until you accept in the cookie banner. If you decline, nothing is loaded and only your choice is saved in your browser, so we don't ask again.
- Saved crawls: crawls you build or save in the Crawl Builder are stored only in your own browser (local storage). They are never sent to us, we can't see them, and clearing your browser data deletes them. A crawl only leaves your device if you share its link yourself.
- "Near me": if you choose it in the Crawl Builder and allow location, your location is used only in your browser to find spots within a walk. It is never sent to us or stored.
- Embedded content: TikTok videos and maps on the site are loaded from their providers under their own policies.
What we don't do
We don't sell personal data, we don't build profiles of you, and we don't knowingly collect information from children under 13.
