Sushi Katsuei has been on 7th Avenue since 2013 and made the case early that you did not have to cross the bridge for a serious omakase. The fish quality is high, the rice is seasoned properly, and the omakase runs considerably cheaper than the Manhattan equivalents. There is à la carte for anyone who wants it, but the counter omakase is the reason the restaurant has the reputation it does. The room is unremarkable and the focus is entirely on the food, which is the right allocation. It remains one of Brooklyn's most reliable sushi bookings.
