About Haenyeo

Haenyeo takes its name from the women free divers of Jeju Island, and the menu leans accordingly toward seafood — a haemul pajeon with real crab and squid in it, stews built on anchovy stock, raw preparations. The rest of the Korean menu is handled with equal care, and the fried chicken and bossam are both worth ordering. Brunch is an unusual proposition for a Korean restaurant and it works. The 5th Avenue room is modern and bright and stays busy. It has been one of Park Slope's best restaurants since opening and draws people from well outside the neighborhood.
