East Harlem Peruvian cooking with real ambition — ceviche, lomo saltado, and pisco done right
Dalila's is a small East Harlem dining room doing Peruvian cooking with more care than the price point implies. The ceviche is bright and properly acidic rather than drowned, the lomo saltado comes out of a hot enough pan to actually char, and the pisco sours are mixed by someone who has thought about them. The room is modest and the service is warm in the specific way of restaurants where the owner is present. It is a recent addition to a stretch of Lexington Avenue with deep Latin roots, and it has been absorbed into the neighborhood quickly, which is usually the best signal there is.
